Ariana Grande is the next performer to get a massive Fortnite in-game concert. The popstar will be featured in-game as part of the Rift Tour event in August, Epic Games announced on Sunday with a short teaser video on Twitter.
The Rift Tour event will be a massive in-game musical spectacular and will add several cosmetic items to the game, including an official Ariana Grande Icon series outfit to the shop — if certain leaks are correct.
While several other singers have performed Fortnite shows in the last year, none of them have reached the heights — or had full in-game events — the way Travis Scott did in 2020. However, it seems that Grande’s event will likely be on the same level as Scott’s if not even larger, at least based on the details that Epic has announced so far. The event could feature more gameplay sections than Scott’s last year, or even guest artists, but so far Epic has only revealed Grande as the event’s headliner.
During Scott’s in-game concert, the Fortnite map morphed into a semi-choreographed music video, changing colors, turning players upside down, and flying them through space, all while a massive version of the rapper danced around the map and translated his signature onstage energy directly into the game. Players even had the chance to get in on the fun with a Travis Scott outfit and emote for players to buy in the in-game store.
The Rift Tour will begin on Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. ET in the Americas for its first engagement. Next, the event will go happen globally on Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. ET. The event will be live for players in Asia and Oceania on Aug. 8 at 12 a.m. ET, while players in EU and ME can attend on Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. ET, ending with an encore for the Americas on Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. ET.
Epic was originally going to announce more information about the Rift Tour on Aug. 2, but it’s not clear if the developer released this teaser video early because leakers and data miners were starting to discover files for Ariana Grande in-game, or if there’s more to be revealed on Monday.
