Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone patch nerfs guns to fix a wall hack

After the discovery of a nasty bug, Infinity Ward has nerfed the AS VAL gun in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone in its latest patch for the games. The update also makes adjustments to the SP-R 208 and the SKS.

Infinity Ward released a new patch for both Warzone and Modern Warfare on Thursday with a small but significant group of changes. The most important one is to the AS VAL and its SSP 10-R mags, which could previously penetrate multiple walls without any damage penalty — effectively turning the AS VAL into a rail gun. This interaction was a “bug,” according to the patch notes, and the gun should now work as intended.

Thursday’s patch made the most changes to the new SP-R 208 marksman rifle. It now has increased flinch and slower aiming speed. The variable zoom scope attachment also moves the weapon closer to the player and further reduces aim speed. And the .300 Norma mag and .388 Lapua mag have reduced velocity and slower aiming speed. The SKS rifle got a small nerf to its aiming speed as well.

Finally, as a general bug fix for Warzone, players can no longer survive the gas by traveling on the newly added subway system.

The patch is currently live inside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone.
