NASA and SpaceX are sending astronauts to the International Space Station from US soil for the first time since 2011, and Kerbal Space Program wants you to recreate that mission in-game.
In a tweet from the Kerbal Space Program Twitter account, publisher Private Division challenged players to simulate the launch with Kerbals. Players will have to launch their projects and submit their footage by May 25 to be in consideration for the challenge. As far as details go, the KSP Twitter account directs players to NASA’s website for the mission.
Private Division will show all the best entries to NASA and SpaceX to get an expert opinion on the Kerbal carrying crafts. In fact, when one player asked for a few requirements for the challenge, the KSP Twitter said they were up to players and that the best attempts might help guide NASA and SpaceX. No shots at all of Kerbal’s intrepid rocket scientists … but I hope that isn’t exactly true.

As for the real life mission, NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley will fly on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft, which will lift off on a Falcon 9 rocket. The launch is scheduled for 4:32 p.m. EDT on May 27.
Meanwhile, Private Division — a minor label owned by Take-Two — continues work on Kerbal Space Program 2. The game was originally scheduled to release sometime in early 2020, however since then Take-Two has said that the game won’t be out until sometime in fiscal year 2021. The game’s website still lists it as launching in 2020.
