Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gets PS5, Xbox Series X upgrade this summer

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is getting a next-gen console upgrade. Lucasfilm Games announced Thursday on the official Star Wars website that Fallen Order will receive “a number of technical improvements” as part of an update coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X this summer.

Details are scant, but the post on StarWars.com says the cross-generation upgrade will be free to current owners of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order already received a “next-gen optimization update” back in January. That patch increased the game’s frame rate and resolution via backward compatibility on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Lucasfilm Games promised it will provide more details soon about the game’s forthcoming update.

Developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts released Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in November 2019 on PS4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. In our review, we called Fallen Order an exciting, surprising, and occasionally flawed action adventure set in the Star Wars universe, ultimately naming it one of Polygon’s favorite games of 2019.

If you’d like to jump into Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order now, and enjoy that console upgrade later, the game is up to 70% off on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store, as well as on Origin, and Steam, through May 12.
