OlliOlli World, a new action-platformer from Roll7 and Private Division, brings skateboarding to colorful, weird place.
The first trailer of the skate-inspired game dropped today and the gameplay looks oh so smooth. OlliOlli World appears to be similar to The Alto Collection — and will have players cruising through variety of colorful environments as they chain tricks together on their skateboard.
The game is an aesthetic departure from the first two OlliOlli titles. The characters look as zany and whimsical as its candy-colored coastal town. There’s a frog who wears a vaporware-inspired outfit and a buff seagull with prominent nipples, to name a few. The characters kind of look they came from the television show, Adventure Time. As you play, you’ll be able to customize your skater with all sorts of silly outfits.
In a release, Simon Bennett, co-CEO at Roll7 shared that the team “wanted to embrace the weird, wonderful, and diverse side of skateboarding culture with a game that’s all about going on a road trip with your friends, finding crazy spots, pulling mad tricks, and most of all, skating everything in sight!”
What’s cool is that the game will let you customize its difficulty — so if a skateboard game intimidates you, you should still be able get started. For those willing to take the extra challenge, players will be able to “achieve mastery through millions of unique levels in sandbox mode” and will allow players to “take on friends and fellow skaters around the world on countless procedurally generated levels that are easy to share.”
OlliOlli World will come to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, and will launch sometime before March 31, 2022.
