Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Min Min DLC review: Sakurai goes out on a limb

Could this be the least popular Smash Bros Ultimate DLC character?

Min Min noodles her way into the battle and boy, does she pack a punch with every bowl.

The Smash Bros series has the ability to make characters feel like they’ve been plucked straight out of their respective games, and that's no different for Min Min.

But are players getting it while it’s hot? Or does she leave a sour taste in people’s mouths?

Min Min specialises in long ranged attacks. Her special attacks surround her unique mechanic on changing arm types. She can swap between 3 different arms (using down + B) whilst her left one always will be the Dragon arm.

The Ram Ram arm is a quick, long ranged arm which can be used to flinch or interrupt the opponent but doesn’t possess much power when it comes to damage or knockback.

The Mega Watt arm which is slow but powerful and the previously mentioned Dragon arm which can reach far also shoot lasers.

This is a clever way to incorporate Arms gameplay into a game like Smash, it’s just a shame no one played it.

The stage that comes along with Min Min is Spring Stadium.

This is a relatively simple stage with a few interesting quirks. The stage covers about as much space as the Pokemon Stadium stage but introduces a new mechanic of jump pads.

These spaces alternate between a platform centered in the middle and either edges of the Stadium.

Once on these platforms your jump distance increases. Alongside arches on the top of the stage which players sometimes will bounce off, this stage is simple but can make for complicated situations.

Accompanied by the “Whoas!” of the Arms soundtrack in the background this is definitely not a pro level tournament legal stage but will definitely wear you out and cause some shenanigans.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Min Min DLC – Verdict: 3/5

As long as you keep your distance and learn how to deal with the end lag on most of Min Min’s long ranged moves, she is a spicy bowl of noodles to challenge even the sharpest of tongues, and her stage is also a welcomed addition, maybe even more than the character herself.

I put my hands together for the few pairs of Arms fans out there, and I’m sorry for all the hate this series is getting but I extend an olive branch to put the “whoas” to rest in hopes the next DLC character is someone better.
