Valkyrae just became one of the few female co-owners of an esports team

Popular streamer Rachel “Valkyrae” Hofstetter is now a co-owner of the gaming and lifestyle brand 100 Thieves. “I’m proud to be one of the first women co-owners in esports and beyond excited for our future together,” Hofstetter shared via her personal Twitter account.

The announcement marks a new milestone in what has been an extraordinary career for the personality. Hofstetter streamed for the esports organization for three years before being announced as a co-owner alongside mainstream stars like Drake. While it’s unclear what the role will mean in terms of responsibilities, the move is notable when you consider Valkyrae’s career. While celebrities can and do announce esports partnerships because they’ve got money to play around with, Valkyrae is a streamer who has ground her way to the top. Not only is she one of the biggest women streamers around, she can now say that she is a stakeholder in the business that signed her.

Although the content creator — known for playing games like Among Us — only left Twitch to move to YouTube in January, she’s racked up over 3.3 million subscribers on Google’s platform. Beyond just numbers, she’s also taken part in major Twitch events like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s get out the vote stream, starred in a music video with Machine Gun Kelly, and won “content creator of the year” at The Game Awards in 2020.

100 Thieves also announced that streamer and YouTube personality Jack “CouRage” Dunlop would be joining as a co-owner as well. The two join the ranks of well-known names like Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, Scooter Braun, and Dan Gilbert.

“In my mind, this is probably the most important day in 100 Thieves history,” Haag said in a video introducing the two as co-owners. “I could have never predicted that we would be sitting here and welcoming Valkyrae and CouRage officially as co-owners of 100 Thieves.”

People have been pouring their hearts out in support for her since the announcement. Well-known names like Corpse Husband and Neekolul were among the names to cheer her on.

Peers and fans alike are just so happy to see her in this new role.

And while we still don’t know what co-ownership will entail, it’s safe to say that she and her story have inspired many to love and follow her.
