Near the beginning of when Call of Duty: Warzone launched, the battle royale had a huge hacking problem. Cheaters were in nearly every lobby, on PC, and wreaked havoc on the player base for what seemed like months. However, after an outcry from the community, Infinity Ward stepped up its anti-cheat protection services. Ever since this occurred around Season Three, the cheating issue has been pretty mild. Though, recently, hackers have upped their game and are running rampant in Season Four of Warzone.

Cheaters running loose in Warzone
If you’ve played any Warzone matches on PC in the past couple of weeks, you have undoubtedly run into cheaters. For some reason, hacking is becoming more adept at bypassing Infinity Ward’s anti-cheat software. According to multiple experts in the community, this rise in cheating is stemming from hackers being able to bypass Warzone‘s phone verification policy.
After Infinity Ward took cheating more seriously, it implemented an SMS two-step verification. This essentially means you need to have a working phone number attached to your Warzone account. Well, while this process worked for a month or so, hackers now have developed cheap cheats to easily avoid legitimate verification. Basically, hackers can use cheats until they’re banned for only a few dollars and keep repeating this cycle.
So, as a result, there is a huge influx of cheaters in Season Four of Warzone. Multiple big-name personalities in the community have spoken out about their lobbies being filled with more hackers than usual this past week. Now, we know why.
Am I crazy or are there way more cheaters in Warzone lately?
Yeah the hackers realized it only costs 2 dollars to bypass the SMS phone number system.
Past couple weeks been bad
Yup. It improved so much for a solid month or so. Now it seems to be right back where it used to be :/
Infinity Ward has yet to comment on the SMS verification issue or the rise in cheaters. However, the developers did take swift action last time hacking was this much of a problem. Hopefully, they do the same this time around and we have a resolution in the coming weeks.
