Global esports league and tournament organizer ESL has partnered with GUNNAR Optiks to create a line of esports gaming glasses for retail. ESL Blade, the first signature ESL design released by GUNNAR, is part of a three-year licensing partnership between the two companies previously reported by The Esports Observer. Following the release of Lighting Bolt 360: ESL Edition, this new edition, ESL Blade, now becomes the second pair of ESL-branded gaming glasses released by GUNNAR.
ESL Blade fits in line with other GUNNAR products in that its lenses, trademarked as “Blue Light Protection Factor,” block 65% of blue light and reduce glare.
GUNNAR has a wide range of gaming and computer glasses that can be ordered in prescription lenses.
According to Prevent Blindness, an organization created to inform people on how to protect their vision, “Blue light from computer screens and digital devices can decrease contrast leading to digital eyestrain which can lead to retina damage” and that studies suggest that continued exposure to blue light over time could lead to damaged retinal cells.
