Fighting game-focused esports organization Panda Global has announced a slate of new hires as part of its ongoing expansion efforts.
Long time esports commentator Zak “CONEY” Zeeks, who was previously under contract with Panda Global as a commentator, will now fill the role of creative lead. In addition to hosting and commentating at high profile Super Smash Bros. events, Zeeks is a content creator with his own Twitch stream. Zeeks will lead the organization’s content creation efforts.
Jack Moore will assume the role of director of growth for the organization’s stats and rankings initiative PGStats, which maintains the most widely-accepted Super Smash Bros. global player rankings – the Panda Global Ranking (PGR). Moore will oversee numerous projects to scale up PGStats activity.
Robin Harn, known in the Super Smash Bros. community as “Juggleguy,” will join the organization as a project manager. Harn operates one of the largest annual Super Smash Bros. tournaments in the world, The Big House. Part of Harn’s duties will include the creation of a PGStats website.
Panda Global is also adding Bien Nguyen as director of engineering (formerly a senior software engineer at BHD Solutions) and Brandon Brady (formerly of Aksys Games) as social media manager, as well as adding three part-time roles for SEO and social media.
“The world around us is changing but one thing has been absolutely proven: Esports is here to stay,” Panda Global CEO Alan Bunnéy told The Esports Observer. “Panda Global has a big future and I’m confident that this all-star team will get us there. We’re still expanding though, so keep your eyes on Panda Global this year.”
Panda Global is unique among major esports organizations in that it is focused on individual esports such as fighting and card games. The organization has previously signed deals with several non-endemic brands including Geico, Zippo, and Funimation. In addition to its content creation, competitive roster, and rankings products, Panda Global hosts community tournaments across a wide array of games.
