Epic Games has extended Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 2 by an additional week, giving players more time to wrap up their Battle Pass Challenges. Season 2 of Fortnite will now end on June 11. Once it does, Season 3 will kick off immediately afterward. Epic Games did not speak at length about what specifically was the cause for the delay, just that the team needed more time to “get everything ready.” The limited-time event The Device has had its date changed as well.

This is the second time Epic Games has delayed the end of the current Fortnite season. Originally, Season 2 was scheduled to end on April 30. This month-long delay was caused by preemptive steps Epic Games took to keep its employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new launch date for Chapter 2 – Season 3 is June 11.

Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 3 Arrives June 11
In an effort to get everything ready for Chapter 2 – Season 3, we’re extending Season 2 by one week. The new launch day of Season 3 will be Thursday, June 11.
The Device, Fortnite limited-time event
Season 3 isn’t the only event delayed by Epic Games. The mysterious one-time-only live event, The Device, has been delayed as well. The Device will now take place on June 6 at 2 p.m. ET. Epic Games recommends players log on at least 30 minutes before the event starts to ensure they can queue up for it. This Fortnite limited event seems to be restricted to a specific number of people as Epic Games warns that space is limited.
So far, Epic Games has not revealed what The Device event will look like. Or what the titular device might be. An in-game countdown timer coincided with the event’s start time, but what that means for Fortnite players remains to be seen. Speculation for The Device involves something related to The Agency and Midas. The consensus online seems to be that the orb in Midas’ office is some sort of doomsday device.
For now, Fortnite fans will just have to wait an extra few days before finding out what The Device is. Until then, Epic Games has given players extra time to wrap up Battle Pass challenges as well as complete Location Domination and Storm the Agency challenges. Epic also reminds players to lock in cosmetic choices for Brutus, Maya, Meowscles, Midas, Skye, and TNTina.
