Hangzhou, China-based esports organization LGD Gaming (LGD) announced that the company signed a sponsorship deal with gaming laptop brand ThundeRobot. The deal will be exclusive for the organization’s League of Legends team for the upcoming League of Legends World Championship (Worlds 2020).
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
LGD competes in Worlds 2020 as the fourth seed of League of Legends Pro League (LPL), with sponsors including China Mobile, Bixin, HyperX, DouYu, and home appliance brand Hisense. This will be the second time that LGD Gaming will compete in the World Championship. LGD competed in the 2015 edition of the event.
In addition, LGD also signed a partnership deal with the Chinese car-hailing service giant Didi Chuxing. The LGD logo and a slogan, “Power LGD for Worlds 2020” are featured on Didi cars in the Chinese city of Hangzhou. The partnership is exclusive for Didi cars in Hangzhou.
Didi is the biggest car-hailing company in China. The company has been invested in by Uber, Tencent Holdings, and Alibaba Group. In 2016, Uber sold its Chinese business to Didi in return for 5.9% shares of Didi.
Based in Hangzhou, LGD Gaming is one of six LPL teams that has a home venue. The organization was founded in 2009 by the famous Chinese female entrepreneur Pan “RURU” Jie, and competes in League of Legends, Dota 2, CrossFire, and Honor of Kings.
