Pokemon Go’s June Community Day is just around the corner. The monthly event returns next Saturday, June 20, and much like the past two Community Days, developer Niantic is tweaking some aspects of the event to make it easier to participate in from home amidst the coronavirus pandemic. To help you prepare for the event, we’ve rounded up everything you need to know about June 2020’s Community Day below.
June’s Featured Pokemon: Weedle
During May’s Community Day, Niantic gave Pokemon Go players the chance to vote on what the game’s next featured Pokemon will be, and the winning monster was Weedle. The Bug/Poison type will appear in the wild much more frequently than usual throughout June’s Community Day, making this a good opportunity to stock up on Weedle Candy.
Not only will Weedle be much easier to find during the event, but you’ll also have your first chance to catch a Shiny Weedle in the game. You’ll need a little luck to get one, though; Shiny Pokemon are typically very rare, although the increased Weedle spawns should ensure you find one with enough persistence.
June’s Community Day Move: Drill Run
Each Community Day’s featured Pokemon is able to learn a special move if you can evolve it into its final form by the end of the event. This month, the special move is the Ground-type Charged attack Drill Run. If you can power up Kakuna–Weedle’s evolved form–into Beedrill up to two hours after the Community Day ends, it’ll automatically learn Drill Run. This applies to any Kakuna that evolves during that time frame, even if you’ve caught it prior to the event.
June Community Day Hours
Like the previous two Community Days, this month’s event will run for six hours instead of the usual three, from 11 AM to 5 PM local time. This means you’ll have until 7 PM local time to evolve Kakuna and obtain a Beedrill that knows Drill Run.
Other Bonuses
In addition to increased Weedle spawns, Niantic is making a few other in-game bonuses available during June’s Community Day. First, you’ll receive triple Stardust each time you catch a Pokemon during the event. On top of that, any Incense that you use will remain active for three hours rather than the standard 30 minutes. Niantic will also be selling a special Community Day bundle in Pokemon Go’s in-game shop that includes the following items:
- 1 Elite Charged TM
- 30 Ultra Balls
- 3 Star Pieces
- 3 Incense
