Battlefield 2042 Will Cost More On PS5 And Xbox Series X Than PC And Last-Gen Consoles

It’s been revealed that the recently announced Battlefield 2042 will cost more on PS5 and Xbox Series X than the PC and last-gen version.

According to a press release published by EA DICE, the standard edition of Battlefield 2042 will cost $70 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S while the game on PC, PS4, and Xbox One will only cost $60. However, both the Gold and Ultimate editions of the game will cost the same across all consoles but will be $10 cheaper on PC. It’s a little bit complicated, but simply put, the standard edition of the game will cost more on next-gen consoles.

For those wondering, there is no difference between the next-gen and last-version of the game besides some fancier graphics and higher frame rates. If you’re thinking of trying to swindle EA by purchasing the PS4 version of the game and playing it on PS5, the publisher has covered its bases. Battlefield 2042 won’t have a free upgrade path, meaning you’ll be playing the PS4 version on the PS5 via backward compatibility.

If you’re wanting to get one of the more expensive versions of the game, the Gold Edition will set you back $99.99 and comes with early access to the game, Year 1 Pass, and Cross-Gen Bundle. The slightly more expensive Ultimate Edition ($119.99) nets you all of the previously mentioned bonuses but also includes some exclusive skins as well as a digital artbook. The game is currently available to pre-order and launches on October 22nd.

Outside of how much you’ll be paying, we also know that Battlefield 2042 will not include a single-player campaign or a battle-royale mode. Instead, the developers are focusing on delivering three unique multiplayer experiences, one of which is still being developed. The other two are called “All Out War” and “Hazard Zone”, the former being the Battlefield we’re all familiar with, and the latter being a new, squad-based multiplayer mode.
