Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War beta release time confirmed and its great news for UK fans

Fans waiting to test out Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War don’t have long to wait until the start of the new beta. Unfortunately for those who have not pre-ordered the game, you won’t be getting closed beta access on October 8. For those that have sorted a copy of the game and are eager to start, things are already starting on the PlayStation platform.

The Black Ops Cold War beta can be preloaded on PS4, meaning you have everything downloaded and ready to roll on launch day.

And the good news for UK gamers is that things will be keeping off at prime time on PlayStation consoles.

WHEN DOES THE CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS COLD WAR BETA COME OUT?

The first Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War beta is scheduled to kicck off on Thursday, October 8, 2020.

And we also know exactly when things will be kicking off on live servers for pre-order customers.

According to Activision, the Black Ops Cold War beta release time has been set for 6pm BST, or 10am PDT, if you live in the United States.

It should be noted that the October 8 early access period is only for those gamers who have pre-ordered the game, which is still an option for those on the fence.

A message from Activision adds: “There are two weekends of the Black Ops Cold War Beta. Each “weekend” is scheduled to last a total of four days, with both play periods scheduled to begin on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. PDT and ending on Monday morning at 10 a.m.

“The first Beta weekend is exclusively for PlayStation 4 owners, and is scheduled to run from Thursday, October 8 to Monday, October 12.

“The rest of the Beta period – Saturday, October 10, to Monday, October 12 – is free to all PlayStation 4 owners. If you have a PS4 and an internet connection, ready up for Black Ops combat and join in during the Open Beta.”

So for those wondering, this weekend will be PS4 only, followed by other platforms. Activision’s PS4 open beta kicks off on October 10.

Weekend Two of the Cold War beta will include players from Xbox One and PC who have pre-ordered the game, as well as open access for all PS4 players.

October 17 will be the start of the Call of Duty Black Ops open beta for everyone, running until October 19.

WEEKEND ONE BETA

  • OCT. 8-9: PS4 EARLY ACCESS
  • OCT. 10-12: PS4 OPEN BETA

WEEKEND 2 CROSSPLAY BETA

  • OCT. 15-16: XBOX + PC EARLY ACCESS + PS4 OPEN ACCESS
  • OCT. 17-19: OPEN ALL PLATFORMS

And for those wondering what will be included, it sounds like there will be plenty of new map to test out, and a progression system where players can earn XP in order to unlock new content for their loadouts including weapons, equipment, Create-a-Class slots, and Scorestreaks.

“During the Beta, experience signature Black Ops combat across traditional 6v6 modes, the higher player count 12v12 Combined Arms, and a brand-new 40-player mode, Fireteam: Dirty Bomb,” Activision adds.

“The Beta will feature a selection of the game’s Multiplayer maps set in distinct global locations during the Cold War. Players can progress and rank up in the Beta-specific levelling system where loadout items, including new weaponry, covert spy tech through Field Upgrades, and badass Scorestreaks can be unlocked by earning XP.”
