Ahead of the official reveal of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Warzone battle royale mode, even more details have emerged.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’s upcoming battle royale mode, titled Warzone, is a pretty poorly kept secret. Not only was it leaked as far back as last year, a video showing some very genuine-looking footage has just been uploaded to YouTube and confirms a bunch of details.
The video has since been taken down, most likely due to breaking an embargo, with Warzone supposed to be officially announced later today, but it was up long enough for fan to make copies and take notes.
Since then, we’ve gleaned some extra details about the mode, namely that it will be free-to-play. This means that you don’t need to own a copy of Modern Warfare to play Warzone, although there will be benefits if you do.
If you do own Modern Warfare you’ll be able to play the mode with stuff you’ve already unlocked, such as skins. If you don’t own the game, you’ll still probably be able to either unlock more content through playing it or via in-game purchases.
Another neat detail is that Warzone will feature cross-play. Exact specifics weren’t given but we can assume that this will apply to all possible platforms, i.e. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Hopefully, come the actual announcement, we’ll be able to more accurately understand how Warzone will work, though it is a shame that most of the mystery has already been spoilt.
We also don’t know exactly when Warzone will launch, though given the early upload, it’s likely that it will be very soon. It’s even been heavily rumoured that it will happen this week.
