Clannad Gets A Physical Edition To Wipe Your Tears On

If you’re an anime fan that came up in the mid-aughts, Clannad means something to you. Its distinctive art style helped to really further the moe boom, and its tragic yarn left an indelible impact on more than a few otaku. While I was always more of an Air gal myself, there’s no denying Clannad‘s importance to the medium.

For people who want to own a tiny part of anime fandom history, then Limited Run has got you covered. The fan-favorite publisher has announced the first-ever Western physical release of Clannad, due out later this year. Available for preorder next week, and buyers look to be getting a pretty sweet package.

The game will come in a beautiful box that looks to be a recreation of the original’s limited edition chipboard packaging. You’ll also get an artbook, an arranged album of tracks from the game, and (naturally) a physical copy of the game. Overall, it’s a handsome package, and definitely something worth picking up for fans and newcomers alike.

It’s amazing that Clannad still has staying powering in 2020. Well over a decade later, and anime fans still talk about it with a reverence rarely reserved for moderately successful mid-aughts shows. Key’s tragic slide-of-life opus shook up both the VN and anime scenes, and it’ll be interesting to see how it plays with people who haven’t ever touched or even heard of it.

Clannad: Collector’s Edition will be available from Limited Run on April 14.
