Cyberpunk 2077 release date has once again been delayed, with one of the biggest games in the year now coming out in November.
CD Projekt RED said they had pushed back the release date of Cyberpunk 2077 as they didn’t want to launch something that is “not ready”.
Gamers will now be able to take their first few steps in Night City when Cyberpunk 2077 launches on the PS4, Xbox One and PCs on November 19.
It most recently had been pencilled in for a September 17 release date.
Today’s news marks the second time that Cyberpunk 2077 has had its release date delayed.
The highly anticipated open world game was originally meant to launch in April before its release date was pushed back till September.
The latest Cyberpunk 2077 release date delay was announced by the game’s official Twitter account.
They shared a message penned by Marcin Iwinski, CD Project RED co-founder, and the Head of Studio Adam Badowski.
They said: “We have decided to move the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 from September 17 to November 19.
“Those of you who are familiar with the way we make games know that we won’t ship something which is not ready. ‘Ready when it’s done’ is not just a phrase we say because it sounds right, it’s something we live by even when we know we’ll take the heat for it.
“At the same time, we are fully aware that making such a decision costs us your trust and trading trust for additional time is one of the hardest decisions a game developer can make.
“And despite we think it’s the right decision for the game, we’d still like to apologise for making you wait longer. Our intention is to make Cyberpunk 2077 something that will stay with you for years to come. In the end, we hope you understand why we did what we did.”
But in good news to fans, CD Project RED has revealed that the first previews of the game will be out soon.
They said this week journalists from around the world have started playing Cyberpunk 2077, and that previews will be out after the Night Wire event on June 25.
The developer update added: “At the time of writing these words, Cyberpunk 2077 is finished both content and gameplay-wise.
“The quests, the cutscenes, the skills and items; all the adventures Night City has to offer – it’s all there. But with such an abundance of content and complex systems interweaving with each other, we need to properly go through everything, balance game mechanics and fix a lot of bugs. A huge world means a huge number of things to iron out, and we will spend the additional time doing exactly that.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is also coming to Google Stadia, but it was previously reported that it wasn’t going to be arriving on the same day that the PS4, Xbox One and PC editions launched.
It remains to be seen if this latest release date delay for Cyberpunk 2077 changes that.
