Final Fantasy 14: The 10 Best Triple Triad Cards (& Where To Get Them)

For any Final Fantasy 14 player looking to improve their Triple Triad game by getting some better cards, we’ve got a handy guide all about where you can find ten of the best cards in the game.

It’s always worth having a variety of decks built, just in case you challenge an NPC that has certain rules in place. For example, the reverse rule would require a far weaker deck, though the default cards you receive are suitable for this. For the purposes of this guide, we’re going to cover ten of the strongest cards you can obtain.

Building Your Deck Basics

You can build up to five decks by going into the “Character” menu, selecting “Gold Saucer”, and then going into “Card Decks”. Each deck consists of five different cards, and in any deck, you can only have one card that is rated as four-star or above, so choose wisely.

The ideal setup is to get a double A five-star card for your strongest contender, then build the rest of your deck with strong three-star cards, such as ones that feature double 8s. With the “88” cards you want to try and encompass all strengths/weaknesses, so pick cards that have different “88” sides to the others in your deck to cover all your bases.

Estinien

The Estinien card is a great choice for one of your three-star cards and has the following side values: 8, 8, 2, 3.

This card is a possible reward from defeating the Triple Triad NPC Gibrillont in Foundation at (X:13, Y:12). There is a 5.16% chance of receiving it when you win a match.

Lucia god Junius

The Lucia goe Junius card is another double 8 card that would be perfect for your deck. It features the following side values: 8, 2, 3, 8.

This card can only be obtained by defeating the Triple Triad NPC Wawalago in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks at (X:8, Y:15). There is a 9.38% chance of winning this from Wawalago.

Phoebad

The Phoebad card is another choice for players that ticks the “88” suggestion. Its side values are as follows: 8, 8, 3, 1.

This card can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Possible reward from defeating the Triple Triad NPC Umber Torrent in The Lochs at (X:16.4, Y:24.6). There is a 7.89% chance of receiving this when you win a match.
  • Get a Gold rating on the FATE “Tall Tale” in The Lochs at (X:21, Y:25).

Hilda

The Hilda card is a great three-star “88” card to add to your deck and it features the following side values: 1, 4, 8, 8.

This card can only be obtained as a possible reward for defeating the Triple Triad NPC Idle Imperial in Azys Lla at (X:28, Y:31). There is a 2.84% chance that this card will be the reward for winning a match.

Qitian Dasheng

Qitian Dasheng is another great three-star card that should be considered for your deck as it also features double 8s. Its sides have the following values: 3, 8, 4, 8.

This card can only be obtained as a possible loot drop from the final boss (Qitian Dasheng) in the level 70 dungeon called The Swallow’s Compass. There is a 28.57% chance of it dropping as a reward.

Asahi sas Brutus

The Asahi sas Brutus card is another contender for one of the “88” spots in your deck. Its side values are the following: 8, 4, 1, 8.

This card can be obtained by defeating the Triple Triad NPC Hachinan in Yanxia at (X:26.5, Y:12.9), though there is only a 3.6% chance of it dropping.

Arenvald Lentinus

The Arenvald Lentinus card is another great “88” card that goes well with the previous “88” cards as it covers their weaknesses. Its side values are as follows: 8, 4, 8, 2.

This card can only be obtained by defeating the Triple Triad NPC Umber Torrent in The Lochs at (X:16.4, Y:24.6).

Onion Knight

The Onion Knight card is one of the best five-star cards you can get, as it features the following sides: 8, 2, 8, A, meaning that it only really has one weak side.

This card can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Random reward from defeating the Triple Triad NPC Lewena in the Gold Saucer at (X:4.8, Y:6.1).
  • Loot drop from defeating the Cloud of Darkness in The World of Darkness level 50 raid.
  • Randomly received from a Mythril Triad Card pack, which is purchasable from Triple Triad Trader in the Gold Saucer for 8,000 MGP. The chance of receiving this card from each pack is 2.44%.

Squall Leonhart

Another great choice to have as your five-star card is Squall Leonhart, as it possesses the coveted double A. Its side values feature the following: 6, A, A, 1.

This card is a reward from the “Triple Team II” achievement, which requires players to defeat 30 unique NPC Triple Triad players. Once the achievement is earned, players can claim their card by speaking to Jonathas in Old Gridania at (X:10, Y:6).

Warrior of Light/Shadowbringers Warrior of Light

There are two variants of the Warrior of Light cards, each of which has the same values but on different sides. These cards are highly coveted as they too feature the “AA” values.

The first card is the normal Warrior of Light and its sides feature the following: A, 2, 5, A. This card can only be obtained from Gold Triad Card packs, which are purchasable from Triple Triad Trader in the Gold Saucer for 2,160 MGP, however, players only have a 0.32% chance of getting it from each pack.

The second card is the Shadowbringers Warrior of Light card and its sides feature the following: 2, A, A, 5. This card can only be obtained as a possible loot drop from The Seat of Sacrifice level 80 trial, and it has a 23.08% chance that it will drop.
