The second part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be out ‘as soon as possible’, as it’s revealed why Madam M didn’t get any naughtier.
The remake of Final Fantasy 7 turned out better than many expected but it’s not a complete story and so far there’s no indication of how many parts it will need to cover everything from the original or when the next part will be out.
We still don’t know the answers to those questions but thanks to a new 15-page article in Japanese mag Famitsu we do know that the second part has entered ‘full development’, instead of just being in pre-production.
That still makes it hard to guess how long it might take from now until it’s finished but you’re probably looking at around two years, or as producer Yoshinori Kitase puts it, ‘as soon as possible’.
‘We know that everyone wants the next instalment quickly. We would also like to deliver it as soon as possible’, said Kitase, according to a translation by website Nova Crystallis.
‘Since we were also able to see the line of quality from the first instalment, we hope to make the next instalment even better in quality that can make for an even better experience. We would like to get it out as soon as possible, so please wait for it. I think we can clearly convey the direction when we officially announce the next instalment.’
The Famitsu article also includes a number of new details about the first part, including the fact that new character Roche (the guy with the motorcycle from chapter 4) was meant to appear in chapter 14 for a battle and has a good chance of being in the next game.
It’s also been revealed that the reason the Madam M massage scenes didn’t get any more risqué was simply to avoid a higher age rating. Which means that more was probably planned for the character but had to be left on the cutting room floor.
One question that doesn’t seem to have been broached though, is whether Final Fantasy 7 Remake will appear on other formats.
Part 2 will presumably be on PlayStation 5, but whether there’ll be a next gen version of Part 1 is still unknown. As is any confirmation of an Xbox version – although it’s possible that may come during the Xbox Games Showcase on Thursday, 23 July.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is out now on PlayStation 4.
