Fortnite season 3 release date could be getting pushed back by Epic Games, according to a new leak. We are currently approaching the end of the current Fortnite Battle Pass, with the next season of Battle Royale slated to launch in a few weeks time. The tenth and (currently) final scheduled week of the Fortnite chapter 2 season 2 Battle Pass takes place on the week beginning Monday April 27.
Seeing how Epic Games typically launch new Battle Passes on a Thursday, that could put Fortnite season 3 having a release date of April 30.
However, a new leak could indicate that the current season of Fortnite is getting an extension.
Last week we saw Fortnite update 12.30 launch, bringing with it the Kingsman Umbrella and Crash Pad.
If Epic follows typical release schedules then that could mean a content update this week, followed by patch 12.40 and then another content update.

That would then bring us up to the week beginning April 27 which is when Fortnite update 13.00 could launch.
However, a new leak has revealed that files for an update 12.50 patch have already been discovered by Fortnite dataminers.
Which could suggest a two week delay to the Fortnite season 3 launch, meaning the new Battle Pass would then launch in May.
The news was revealed by Fortnite leaker HYPEX who tweeted: “The update 12.50 already exists in epic’s dev servers.. now there’s 3 options.
“They might delay the next season by a week or 2. That update might be scrapped. We might get 2 updates in a row (12.40 then 12.50)”.
There are multiple possibilities for why Fortnite update 12.50 files could have been discovered by HYPEX.

So if you had marked April 30 down in your calendar for the Fortnite season 3 launch then don’t go crossing it off just yet.
But Epic Games does have form in delaying past Fortnite seasons so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see that happen again.
Ahead of the start of Fortnite season 3 though it looks like Battle Royale fans could be treated to another live event.
This will come as welcome news as during the last Battle Pass we didn’t get a typical end of season live event.
Fortnite fans did see a Star Wars live event, but they didn’t get an event akin to The End or the meteor strike in the final weeks of the Battle Pass.
However, leaks have indicated that Fortnite chapter 2 season 2 could be getting a ‘Doomsday’ event.
Fortnite leaker FortTory discovered Doomsday assets seen around The Agency’s HQ which could be tied to the upcoming live event.
Following the release of update 12.30 last week FortTory tweeted: “So this got added: Doomsday Device.
“Doomsday Hatch. Doomsday Door. There are five from these at the Agency!”
They then added: “Some are still confused about some things.
“There are currently 5 hatches around the Agency in the water. The Device is no where to be found YET.
“But it will most likely pop up in the Doom Room which we probably can access via Midas his room.”
If these Doomsday assets are tied into a larger live event then hints should start dropping in-game soon.
