UPDATE: Developers Mihoyo has officially launched today’s Genshin Impact 2.1 update, although there doesn’t appear to be any new codes to redeem as part of the event.

Gamers would have been rewarded following today’s lengthy maintenance and there’s a chance that some new codes will be released in the future. Genshin fans are also being told to sign up for the Daily Login rewards as part of the new patch rollout.

ORIGINAL: Update 2.1 for Genshin Impact has a release date scheduled for the next 24-hours, bringing with it new content, including some surprising new characters.

Genshin 2.1 is set to bring Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn Inazuma the first time such a major crossover has been conducted in-game.

Developers Mihoyo has promised a range of new daily login events, which will be available until the current version of the game is replaced.

Other big banners are also being planned, including the introduction of the Raiden Shogun Banner, with Mihoyo confirming earlier this week:

“During this event wish, the event-exclusive 5-star character “Plane of Euthymia” Raiden Shogun (Electro) will receive a huge drop-rate boost!

“During this event wish, the 4-star characters “Crowfeather Kaburaya” Kujou Sara (Electro), “Exquisite Delicacy” Xiangling (Pyro), and “Harmless Sweetie” Sucrose (Anemo) will receive a huge drop-rate boost!

“After this event wish ends, the 4-star character “Crowfeather Kaburaya” Kujou Sara will be available in the standard wish “Wanderlust Invocation” in Version 2.2.

“Of the above characters, the event-exclusive character will not be available in the standard wish “Wanderlust Invocation.”

Other content changes during Genshin 2.1 includes two new Islands named Seirai and Watatsumi in the Inazuma region.

Mihoyo is also making it possible to fish around the world of Genshin, telling fans: “Recently, the Teyvat ecology has seen an increase in fish population, with many new fish species appearing in various waters. The grassroots Fishing Association has its hands full and had to put up a commission for help at the Adventurers’ Guild…

“Bring your fishing rod, choose the bait, find the spot, cast your rod, reel it in, and voila, a big catch. The fish caught can not only be used to make dishes, but also can be exchanged for precious treasures at the Fishing Association. There’s even a chance to catch vibrant ornamental fish to admire at your home.”

Maintenance will be performed across all platforms, with downtime expected to start at 11pm BST and run for five hours, ending at closer to 4am BST.

The upside is that gamers will be compensated for the downtime, with Mioyo revealing: “After Travelers install the new game client, they will be able to continue playing. It is recommended to install the update over a Wi-Fi connection owing to the large file size.

“While the update maintenance is in progress, Travelers will be unable to log in to the game. Please take note of the update time and schedule your game time accordingly to avoid losing your progress. We hope Travelers will bear with us during the disruption.

“Update maintenance begins 2021/09/01 06:00 (UTC+8) and is estimated to take five hours. Maintenance Compensation: Primogems ×300 – (60 Primogems for every hour the servers are down. No change to compensation amount if the update is completed early.)”
