Genshin Impact is still building up its anemo characters, as there are only four currently in the game. Of these four anemo users, three of them are five-stars, and only one is a four-star. Both Venti and Xiao’s first banners have also now passed, leaving Jean as the only obtainable anemo user other than Sucrose. Sucrose is a catalyst who lives in Mondstadt, working as an alchemist for the Knights of Favonius.
Like Diona, she has cat ears, though she tries to hide them, and the only person she is close with seems to be her mentor, Albedo.
Using the Power of Anemo
Sucrose isn’t a heavy hitter, something that players who have previously used a catalyst should already be aware of. Like most anemo users, her elemental powers are based around pushing and pulling enemies. Her constellations also concentrate on helping power her elemental abilities.
- C1 – Sucroses elemental skill now receives an extra charge level.
- C2 – Her elemental burst now lasts for an additional two seconds.
- C3 – Astable Anemo Hypostasis Creation – 6308 can now be leveled to level 15.
- C4 – Every time Sucrose uses seven normal attacks, the CD of her elemental skill can decrease by one to seven seconds.
- C5 – Forbidden Creation – Isomer 75 / Type II can now be leveled to level 15.
- C6 – Sucroses burst is now capable of elemental absorption, and party members receive a 20% elemental resistance bonus depending on the elemental type of the enemy.
Sucrose is an excellent support character, as can be seen by the final buff from her C6 ability. The support role is also backed up by her two passive talents. Catalyst Conversion increases every party member other than Sucroses elemental mastery by 50 when a swirl effect is triggered. Mollis Favonius makes it so that hitting an opponent with her elemental skill will increase every party member other than Sucroses elemental master by 20% of Sucrose elemental mastery stat.
These are unique passive talents as they don’t help Sucrose at all. Players will need to properly time switching Sucrose in and out of battle to use her burst and skill correctly. Astable Anemo Hypostasis Creation – 6308, her elemental skill, pulls enemies towards a small hypostasis cube and then launches them into the air. Forbidden Creation – Isomer 75 / Type II, her elemental burst, summons a larger hypostasis that also pulls and launches enemies, just in a much wider radius.
Sucrose Builds
Sucrose should be built as a supporting character with an emphasis on increasing her elemental mastery. Let’s begin by looking at the two best catalyst weapons to place on her:
- Sacrificial Fragments – Gives a skill up to an 80% chance to finish its own CD.
- Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers – Switching from Sucrose will give the next character a 24% attack boost.
Artifacts are a bit different for Sucrose as there are three sets that players can use with her. These heavily concentrate on helping to increase elemental damage.
- Viridescent Venerer – Gives a 15% anemo bonus and a 60% swirl damage bonus. Enemies will also have their elemental resistance decreased by 40% when swirl damage occurs; this lasts for ten seconds.
- Wander’s Troupe – Gives Sucroses elemental Master an 80 point bump and a 35% increase to her attack damage.
- Instructor – Elemental mastery will be increased by 80 points when using this set, and using an elemental skill will increase the entire party’s mastery by 120 points for eight seconds.
As for ascending Sucroses skills and level, she will need items just like any other character in the game that have to be gathered from the world.
Luckily, Sucrose’s ascension materials aren’t that difficult to find.
- Windwheel Aster
- Whooperflower Nectar
- Shimmering Nectar
- Energy Nectar
- Vayuda Turquoise
- Hurricane Seed
Windwheel Asters can be found around Mondstadt, and the nectar can all be harvested by fighting Whooperflowers. Hurricane Seeds, along with Vayuda Turquoise, can be won from the Anemo Hypostasis in Mondstadt.
Using Her in a Team
Sucrose is a character who can be useful to any team. She works well with her mentor, Albedo, who can raise her off the ground using his lotus. Keqing can also benefit from her burst as it helps to gather the on-field enemies together for her burst. Sucrose may have a hard time assisting other catalysts and won’t do much to help other anemo users as they mostly have similar powers. An exception can be made for Xiao, who is an aggressive fighter who can benefit from enemies being gathered together.
Some bow users may also have trouble benefiting from Sucrose as her abilities can make it much harder to hit enemies. She works best when supporting close-range DPS characters like Razor and Diluc. The best strategy is to use her elemental skill or burst and then quickly switch over to your main powerhouse to benefit from its effects.
In addition, Sucrose doesn’t benefit the team when exploring; however, she should always be used when doing alchemy. Her passive skill Astable Invention gives a 10% chance of doubling ascension materials when crafting them.
