Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier has verified the most recent rumours about GTA 6, saying the game is ‘early in development’.
There have been so many rumours about GTA 6 over the years it’s become almost impossible to tell which ones are likely to be the most accurate, but the most recent one – about the game not releasing until 2025 and featuring a map that constantly changes like Fortnite – did seem very believable.
Not only were the details plausible but source Tom Henderson recently proved himself very reliable in terms of Battlefield 2042, getting almost everything right about the reveal before it happened.
And now Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier has stated that, ‘Everything Tom Henderson has said about the game matches up with what I’ve heard’.
Asked specifically what he meant by that, Schreier admitted that he hadn’t seen everything but stated that the information about an evolving and expanding map was accurate – and something he’d already reported.
He didn’t mention the setting of modern day Vice City though, which suggests that’s not something he can verify.
The 2025 release date is obviously a disappointment for fans, but Schreier describes the game as still being early in development, which makes hopes of a 2023 launch impossible. It also implies that the game will be current gen-only.
Although Bloomberg is rightly regarded as a reliable source, they don’t always get everything right. Like everyone else, they predicted a Switch Pro reveal at E3 and that obviously didn’t happen.
However, with the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions of GTA 5 due out this autumn it was always unlikely you’d heard anything about the next game while Rockstar was still busy promoting the new versions.
GTA 5 was announced almost exactly two years before its eventual launch, which, if these rumours are correct, means there might not be anything official on GTA 6 until somewhere around spring 2023.
Idk why everyone thinks that I said GTA VI was coming in 2023. Everything Tom Henderson has said about the game matches up with what I’ve heard
I dunno I haven’t seen everything but it’s still early in development, it has an evolving/expanding map (which I also reported last year), etc
