As Infinity Ward continues to combat cheaters and hackers in its latest Call of Duty game, the company has made the decision to roll out another security measure that takes more of a direct approach when dealing with the problem.
According to Infinity Ward, one of the new ways it plans on dealing with cheaters in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone is by forcing the cheaters to play with one another. Essentially, once the cheaters are caught and are proven to be guilty of cheating, they will get a taste of their own medicine and be paired up with fellow cheaters in future game sessions. That way, the cheaters’ victims won’t have to worry too much about getting shot through walls or aimbotted from a long distance.
Other security measures that Infinity Ward has decided to focus on is displaying a confirmation message when a cheater has been reported and banned. In most multiplayer games, although the “Report Player” option does exist, it only notifies a player when they have filed a report. With this security measure however, players will also get a message letting them know that the person they reported has been successfully banned. Ultimately, the feature is meant to ease the victims’ minds by letting them know that their report has been successful.
Implementing a security measure that puts cheaters into one game and away from honest players can be seen as a breath of fresh air for the Call of Duty community, especially console players. Recently, there have been many reports from console players saying how they came across PC cheaters and how the cheaters made them turn off the crossplay feature in an attempt to not deal with them. Now, it seems that console players can turn on crossplay if they feel safe enough to play with others on different consoles and systems.
As times goes on, Infinity Ward will continue to monitor the cheater situation in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone and do what is necessary to combat those with an unfair advantage. Although the company has banned over 50,000 cheaters at this point, that number is certain to grow.
