NBA 2K21 is available as a free download on the Epic Games Store.
As part of its ongoing battle with PC gaming platform Steam, Epic offers a free game to customers each week.
Sometimes the weekly freebies include multiple indie games, but every now and then Epic throws in a triple-A blockbuster.
Previous free games have included things like GTA 5, Borderlands, Civilization 6 and Sega’s incredible horror game Alien Isolation.
One of the higher-profile games to join the weekly free games promotion, NBA 2K21 is the latest title to be added to the service.
Whether you’re a fan of basketball, or just want to give something new a try, NBA 2K21 can be downloaded from now until 4pm BST on May 27.
Best of all, there are absolutely no strings attached. All you’ve got to do is sign up for a free Epic Games Store account and it’s yours to download.
Once you’ve added the game to your Epic Games Store library, NBA 2K21 is yours to keep forever.
NBA 2K21 will be replaced by a different free game at the same time next week. The identity of next week’s free game is currently a mystery, which suggests it could be something pretty special.
It’s a pretty remarkable deal, especially when you look at all of the content that’s on offer.
This includes the popular MyCareer mode, which lets users take a custom player from the rookie leagues to the NBA.
“Embark on your own personal, cinematic basketball journey to reach your ultimate destination: the National Basketball Association,” reads the official description.
“Build up your custom MyPLAYER and take him to the heights of their career and stardom, and make a name for yourself in the global basketball universe.”

One of the more interesting and unique new additions to NBA 2K21 is the open-world Neighbourhood mode.
“Live out your virtual, day-to-day basketball life in a neighborhood that doesn’t sleep and that always offers something to do.
“Jump in on 3v3 streetball runs with your crew, or play for bigger stakes in 5v5 ProAm games. Shop for the latest sneaker and apparel drops. Level up your MyPLAYER at the local training facility.
“In your NEIGHBORHOOD, basketball never stops, and Everything is Game.”
