New Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies map gets new story trailer

A new trailer for the Firebase Z map shows gameplay, story snippets, and what looks like a giant enemy that shoots lasers from its face.

While some players are rather irate over Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s online multiplayer, it seems people have far less complaints over its Zombies mode, judging by comments under the newest trailer.

The trailer offers fans a first proper look at the new Firebase Z map, which was announced as part of the current mid-season update.

While its story was already confirmed to follow on from the events of the Die Maschine map, the trailer reveals that Requiem has arrived in Vietnam to not just stop another zombie horde but also save a missing Samantha Maxis.

For non-Call Of Duty veterans, Samantha was originally a major antagonist for the Zombies storyline, until Black Ops 4.

She now serves as a member of the BND, Germany’s foreign intelligence agency. But after what happened during Die Maschine, she went rogue and headed to Firebase Z herself to prevent more zombie outbreaks.

She appears to be captured by some sort of entity emerging from a portal and it’s up to Requiem to go and rescue her.

From the quick glimpses of gameplay, the map itself appears to be quite extensive and layered, with the characters using portals to jump to new areas.

There are also what are likely new enemy types, such as a zombie in bulky armour and one gigantic creature that can shoot lasers from its face.

The map will become available on February 4 and fans are already expressing their excitement in the YouTube comments. Some even claim that the Zombies mode is the only reason they’re even still playing Black Ops Cold War.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
