New PS5 GAME stock due Thursday claim rumours – as scalpers bag 2,000 consoles

GAME has sold out of new PS5 consoles in just minutes but suggests that scalper claims of bagging thousands of consoles is not true.

Scalpers have again been bragging about buying up hundreds of PlayStation 5 consoles, so that its members can sell them at inflated prices – but GAME is adamant they won’t find it so easy.

Although the tweets have now been deleted, the Twitter account of the Carnage bot boasted that those using the software had ‘over 2,000 checkouts successfully logged for today’s GAME restock on the PS5’.

After bragging that it ‘just keeps getting easier every time’ the account came under attack by PlayStation fans angry that scalpers were once again going to snaffle up the majority of the newly arriving stock.

As a result of the furore GAME issued a statement, insisting that ‘PlayStation 5 continues to be in very high demand and that demand far outweighs current supply. We have strong measures in place to help ensure that our ‘one per customer’ statement is maintained to allow for as many individual customers to successfully purchase as possible.

‘All pre-orders are subject to automatic checks and order updates such as cancellations following these checks take place after a customer will have received a valid order confirmation email. At the present time these orders are still pre-orders and as such no payments have yet been taken from customers. Payments will commence once our order checks have been completed.’

The implication is that at the point of purchase GAME’s systems will realise if anyone is buying up more than one console and prevent it.

However, that doesn’t seem to solve the problem of thousands of scalpers all buying one each, which is exactly what Carnage and other scalper groups, such as CrepChiefNotify, try to encourage by offering paid subscriptions to anyone that wants to use the same bot technology.

However, after boasting about getting hundreds of consoles from Very last year, CrepChiefNotify scalpers found the orders being cancelled – so there is hope that the same will happen to Carnage users this time.

Current rumours suggest that GAME will get more stock this week, most likely Thursday, although once again it’s likely to last only minutes before running out.
