Oculus Quest & Rift S Anniversary Sales Begin on 21st May

It’s a special week for Oculus fans as the company is celebrating the first anniversary of the Oculus Rift S and standalone headset Oculus Quest. While a lot of the attention is on the latter, what owners of either device can look forward to are content sales in a few days.

Oculus hasn’t yet specified which titles are going on sale but this is could be the first time Oculus Quest owners get a decent discount window. The standalone headset has seen the odd bundle deal arise on the Oculus Store and there was that Vader Immortal offer later last year.

As there haven’t been any big software sales this week will be a good time to start building that content library if you’ve been holding out on purchasing. Whether it’ll be to the same extent as previous Steam or Oculus Rift sales remains to be seen.

There’s not long to wait either with the sale starting this Thursday 21st May. Oculus hasn’t mentioned how long it’ll last, hopefully until at least the end of the month when a lot of people get paid.

Today’s announcements have really been focused on the Oculus Quest ecosystem with barely any mention of Oculus Rift S. Details released for the standalone include content sales exceeding $100 million USD and hand tracking finally leaving beta to see tangible use cases in videogames.

Oculus Link has aided in this push towards Oculus Quest as the all-encompassing headset, able to play Rift exclusive titles like Stormland or Asgard’s Wrath. This feature has been continually improved, expanding GPU support as well as cable compatibility.

Hopefully, as the week goes on the Oculus Rift S will get a bit more attention, as it has been overshadowed by its sibling. As further announcements are made, VRFocus will let you know.
