Outriders has the potential to be a huge hit for Square Enix, having already built a following through its expansive Demo.

But one of the biggest components to lengthy success is usually down to a few critical components, which usually includes features based around open-platform functionality.

The good news is that Outriders has plenty of that, and even though the game is not free-to-play, it can be played via Xbox Game Pass.

Another big part of a game’s longevity is the content made available, gameplay, and cross-platform support.

Here is what we know about Outriders Crossplay and what you can enjoy today and throughout April.

IS OUTRIDERS CROSSPLAY?

The big question for many gamers is if Outriders has Crossplay and how easy is it to use across PS4, Xbox and PC platforms.

The good news is that Outriders does have Crossplay and the development team has been trying to tune it since the demo launched earlier in 2021.

A message from Square Enix backs this up, with a statement telling gamers earlier this year: “Yes. Outriders will Fully support cross-play, meaning you will be able to explore Enoch with any of your friends on any other platform.

“You can play Outriders from start to finish with your friends regardless of what system they own.”

The good news is that Outriders Crossplay is fully up and running and the game can be played on these platforms:

PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Google Stadia, and Microsoft Windows.

If you own and use any of these platforms, you will be able to play Outriders with friends on others platforms.

The latest news from Square Enix has also confirmed how Crossplay has changed since the Demo.

According to the development team, Outriders Crossplay is no longer in Beta and will be on by default.

That means gamers do not need to turn it on so and should make things a little easier for gamers.

PC players will be able to add cross-platform players that they have previously played with to their friends lists.

Consoles will receive this functionality through a future patch, so it might not be an option you can use on release day.

And gamers have also been warned that if they turn Crossplay off manually, you will not be able to automatically matchmake with people who still have it turned on, even if you are all on the same platform. However, direct inviting should still work for those who do choose to use this option.

If for some reason you can’t make your Outriders Crossplay work, you can head over to the options section and choose to enable it under the Gameplay list.

After doing this, you can choose to play with friends and generate a code you can then share with friends you want to play with.

The only big problem with Outriders Crossplay is the question of Voice Chat. During the Demo, Outriders Crossplay Voice Chat only extended to console families, using existing platform functionalities already in place.

This meant you could talk to players using Xbox Live or PSN, but not those cross-playing between.

This left voice chat limited to Xbox One to Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5.

More news and a firm confirmation on voice chat is expected to be shared by the development team soon, who recently confirmed are looking at solutions to use.
