Good news for PlayStation Plus free games fans this week after Sony made a surprise change to one of its titles.
Following the announcement that there would be a bumper crop of PS4 titles available to claim this week from the subscription service, one stood out as having a problem.
The Persistence is a popular VR that challenges players to survive aboard a doomed deep space colony starship in the year 2521.
And while the PS Plus version included all the gameplay that sees you battling against a crew mutated into horrific & murderous aberrations, the enhanced edition of the game was not included.
This upgraded version of the game comes with unique PS5 options that help improve the overall experience.
The official announcement when it was first released outlines these, confirming that: “The Persistence Enhanced is fully optimised for the next-generation hardware with the inclusion of immersive DualSense wireless controller haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, as well as the inclusion of raytraced rendering and a host of other improvements.
“This Enhanced Edition of our survival horror rogue-lite for PS5 flat-screen introduces a dynamic rasterized 4k60 fps Performance mode and 4k30 fps Quality mode which features real-time raytraced reflections and global illumination dialling the atmosphere and tension up to the max aboard the doomed starship.”
And while this version of The Persistence was not available during the PS Plus November launch, gamers are confirming it can now be claimed for free from the PlayStation Store after you’ve grabbed the base PS4 version.
This means you go through the PS Plus claiming process, followed by accessing the PlayStation Store and grabbing the free enhanced version so that you have everything needed to enjoy the game on PS5.
It makes for a perfect compromise as it means that PS4 gamers don’t miss out on downloading an extra game that can be used in VR, while PS5 owners can also grab the best version, without anyone missing out.
And For those looking for a new PS5 game to download this week, the current PlayStation Plus roster includes First Class Trouble and Knockout City.
However, unlike Hell Let Loose, neither of these are exclusive to the PlayStation 5, and that’s probably for the best.
Both games rely on having a healthy player base so that multiplayer games can be hosted on servers.
Knockout City is a team-based dodgeball brawler that follows the same rules as a third-person shooter, while First Class Trouble is a secret identity game in the same style as Among Us.
The full description explains: “First Class Trouble is a social deduction party game where six people play together online aboard a luxury space cruiser.
“At the start of each game, four players will be randomly selected to be Residents, cooperatively trying to shut down a rogue A.I. at the heart of the ship.
“The other two players will be Personoids, who will lie, deceive, and do whatever it takes to stop them! Teamwork is the key to survival, but who can you trust?”
