PS5 pre-order news: Reserve your place in the queue for the PlayStation 5

PS5 fans are still waiting for Sony to officially reveal details of the release date, price and pre-orders for the PlayStation 5. There had been huge buzz earlier this week after a leaker who previously got next-gen details correct said pre-orders for the PS5 were going live on Monday. And there was some activity, with an official landing page for the PS5 showcasing the next-gen games and accessories heading to the system going live on Amazon.

But this update did not reveal the price of the PS5, when the release date would be and neither did the Amazon page let customers actually place a pre-order.

And as fans wait for some more official PS5 news from Sony one store is offering customers the chance to be at the front of the queue when pre-orders go live.

UK online retailer Base is letting customers “reserve a place in the queue” for PS5 pre-orders right now if you pay a penny.

Base has pages available which let customers register their interest in the PS5 as well as accessories like the Pulse 3D headset and an extra DualSense controller.

Base emphasis that this is just to register your interest and reserve a place in the pre-order queue.

They said: “‘Placing an order’ for this is not purchasing this console. This is just to register your interest and reserve a place in the queue for your pre-order.”

While it isn’t a pre-order, it should help Sony fans who are looking to get a PS5 on day one prep early for the big next-gen launch.

Base does have a number of PS5 games available for pre-order, such as titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and NBA2K21.

These games have already been confirmed for a holiday 2020 release, so will be some of the first next-gen games heading to the PS5.

At the time of writing, Base has priced Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for the PS5 at £69.99.

Base has page listings for other upcoming PS5 games such as Demon’s Souls, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Gran Turismo 7.

But it’s unclear whether these titles will be in the PS5 launch line-up or will be arriving later.

Base also has a page where you can pre-order Horizon Forbidden West, but the Horizon Zero Dawn sequel isn’t expected to launch until 2021.

The PS5 is pencilled in to have a holiday 2020 release date. Fans are still waiting to find out the exact release date and price details for the console.

It remains to be seen whether Sony announces this highly sought after information this month or in August.

Next month Sony are rumoured to be holding another PS5 event where more games heading to the system are expected to be unveiled.

The highly rumoured Silent Hill reboot is one of the titles that is expected to feature during the next State of Play stream.

And it’s possible Sony may wait until that broadcast to announce details on the PS5 price, release date and reveal when pre-orders will become available.
