Xbox Series X price is £450 – out early November, pre-orders start in two weeks

Both next gen Xbox consoles will release at the same time in early November, as Microsoft team up with EA for Game Pass.

Gamers finally have the news they’ve been waiting for: when the Xbox Series X will be released and how much it will cost – and it’s all good news.

As was previously rumoured, the Xbox Series X and the recently revealed/leaked Xbox Series S will be out on the same day, 10 November.

The Xbox Series S, which is smaller but less powerful, will cost £249.99 and the Xbox Series X will cost £449.99.

Although the Xbox Series S price was confirmed earlier this week the Xbox Series X price is cheaper than many expected and will put extreme pressure on Sony when they announce the price of the PlayStation 5.

Microsoft is also pushing its Xbox All Access programme which allows you to pay for either console, plus two years’ worth of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, in a series of 24 monthly instalments. For the Xbox Series S that will be £20.99 a month and for the Xbox Series X that will be £28.99 a month.

Pre-orders for both consoles will begin on 22 September. Microsoft has given no indication of what stock issues there might be but, as ever with a new console, it’s likely to be limited this year.

As we correctly predicted, Microsoft has managed to talk at least one publisher into moving their release date slightly, with Assassin’s Creed now due out on all formats on 10 November.

This is an attempt to account for the fact that now Halo Infinite has been delayed Microsoft has no major exclusives of any kind this year.

To further address the problem they’ve announced a partnership with EA to bring some of their games to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass for PC, giving players free access to the EA Play service.

Microsoft are clearly emphasising value for money and affordability, which is not surprising given how this year has been globally. Now it’s Sony’s turn to respond, which is going to be very interesting indeed…
