Xbox Series X stock is hard to come by in the UK right now, and Microsoft has confirmed that things won’t be getting easier in the months to come.

While things aren’t expected to get any more complicated, Xbox’s Phil Spencer has confirmed that supply issues are set to continue.

This means that companies like Microsoft are going to find it impossible to get ahead of consumer demand in 2021, and it looks like issues are going to continue in 2022.

There’s plenty of reasons behind not being able to buy an Xbox Series X right now, and it’s not just Microsoft having issues.

Sony can’t keep up with demand for its PS5 console, and plenty of other hardware manufacturers face the same problems.

Spencer provided the latest Xbox Series X stock update this week, telling The Wrap:

“I think it’s probably too isolated to talk about it as just a chip problem,” said Spencer. “When I think about, what does it mean to get the parts necessary to build a console today, and then get it to the markets where the demand is, there are multiple kinds of pinch points in that process.

“And I think regretfully it’s going to be with us for months and months, definitely through the end of this calendar year and into the next calendar year.

“The thing that’s most disappointing is just the fan disappointment,” Spencer admitted. “People really want this new generation of consoles – they’re good consoles, both from us and the other platform holders – and they want the new functionality.

“We’re working hard to bring them to market but it’s going to be a challenge that we’ll work through for quite a while.”

Xbox reveal the upcoming Series X console

The UK is definitely one of those pinch points and it looks like next-gen consoles will remain hard to come by for the next year.

There’s been no word on which retailer will be the next to restock the Xbox Series X but there are some hopes it Amazon UK will be one of them.

This is based on the news that Amazon in Spain has been regularly restocking the console online this week and it could be the UK next.

Knowing when an Xbox Series X restock is happening can be vital, but it’s also worth knowing how each retailer handles its shipments.

And here are a few examples of how best to try and buy a PS5 or Xbox console from leading UK retailers:

ARGOS: The Argos website is notorious for crashing and being unable to complete purchases when site traffic is high. Stock trackers suggest using the mobile Argos app and keeping an eye on local store listings.

GAME: GAME is a UK retailer that offers the most regular stock updates for PS5 and Xbox consoles. However, console hunters have been warned to use Guest Checkout, as this option is less likely to crash when completing a purchase. The next PS5 and Xbox Series X stock update is expected in October.

AMAZON UK: Amazon UK runs better under strain but still comes with a few kinks worth mentioning. Having an account set up with your card details is a good start, and gamers should also try adding a console to their wishlist before checking out. More Xbox Series X consoles could arrive in October but nothing has been confirmed officially.
