Animal Crossing: New Horizons has only been out for a few weeks, but fans are already finding ways to reshape their islands in the mold of their favorite games. The latest to receive this treatment is the cult SNES RPG EarthBound.
Twitter user @koumepo has shared their attempt to craft their island in the style of one of EarthBound’s early towns, like Onett, and the result is quite authentic.
As you can see from the clip, the fan used real sprites from the game to achieve this effect, as well as donning a Ness-style outfit. @koumepo isn’t the only fan to use New Horizons’ terraforming tools in striking ways. Another Animal Crossing fan created an entire valley of waterfalls to serve as the path to their house. Yet another fan transformed their island into a tribute to Zelda: Link to the Past.
While New Horizons has garnered much critical acclaim over the past few weeks, there’s still been some trouble in paradise. Recently, fans complained about the onerous drop rates for eggs for the game’s Bunny Day event, which led Nintendo to issue a patch to adjust them. The game’s next event, a fishing tournament, is happening this Saturday.
