Well, look at that. Baldur’s Gate 3 is going to launch for Mac, too.
Larian Studios tweeted the news out of the blue on Monday. Baldur’s Gate 3, due for an early access launch on Google Stadia, Steam, and GoG on Tuesday at 1 p.m. EDT, will include Mac platforms.
To answer your question, yes, there are fans of the series on Mac — the originals got launches on MacOS in 2000 and 2001 (two years and one year after their launch on PC). So, everyone’s been waiting a couple of decades for the third full installment in this franchise.
Mac gamers should know that they, too, need the real estate and the bandwidth to choke down a 150 GB download. As this is an early access launch, there’s no pre-loading either, so while Baldur’s Gate 3 may be available at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, it’ll be a while before you can sit down to your Dungeons & Dragons meal.
Larian’s Steam page note to players says that the game’s first act — the early access content — is fleshed out, but the second and third are not, which is why they can’t give a 1.0 launch date yet. But early adopters will get access to five Origin characters, in addition to rolling their own from the 16 races and six character classes available.
