The Epic Games Store has been giving away free PC games every week–no strings attached–since the storefront launched in late 2018. As of now, we know the program will run until at least the end of 2020. It’s pretty straightforward; every Thursday at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, Epic offers one, two, or occasionally even three games completely free of charge. To claim the games, you simply need to register for a free Epic account and enable two-factor authentication, which Epic recently added as a requirement to help users bolster their account security. After registering and claiming your games, they are yours to keep in your digital library forever.

This week’s free game at Epic
Epic has two freebies this week that are available from now until August 20 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET: The Alto Collection and Remnant: From the Ashes. The Alto Collection is a new compilation for consoles and PC that includes the wonderful mobile hits Alto’s Adventure and Alto’s Odyssey. Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person action-RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world. Best played cooperatively with two other players, Remnant: From the Ashes features a robust combat system, tough enemy encounters, and a dynamic world that keeps the challenges fresh.
You also have until tomorrow, August 14, at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET to snag A Total War Saga: Troy for free. It just launched today as an Epic Games Store timed exclusive, so grab it while you can.

Epic regularly reveals the freebies you have to look forward to a week in advance. Starting August 20, you can claim two more freebies: Enter the Gungeon and God’s Trigger. Enter the Gungeon, the breakout 2016 hit from Dodge Roll, was previously free at Epic last summer. It’s a “bullet hell” roguelike that tasks you with wading through tricky, randomized dungeons filled with monsters and loot. God’s Trigger is a fast-paced top-down shooter set in an ultra-violent apocalypse.
