Gaining the upper hand in Pokémon battles all comes down to which creatures you bring into combat. One of the easiest ways to win fights is to take advantage of the strengths and weaknesses of each of the Pokémon you battle.
Each creature in the game has the opportunity to deal super effective damage to their opponents if they use the right attack on specific Pokémon. The best way to find out which techniques to use is by referencing a strength and weakness chart.
In this Pokémon Sword and Shield guide for the Isle of Armor expansion, we put together a chart of every Pokémon type’s strength and weakness so you can deal the most effective damage when working your way through this new chapter of the game.
Pokémon strength and weakness chart
The chart below will let you know which attacks to use and which to avoid based on each Pokémon type. To use this chart, first identify what type each Pokémon is. Then, if you’re looking to deal super effective damage, choose attack types that fall under the Super Effective (ATK) and use them against Pokémon of the types listed. To find out what types of attacks will deal super effective damage to your Pokémon, refer to the Weak Against (DMG) column and avoid those attacks if your Pokémon is the corresponding type.
For instance, the brand new Pokémon Kubfu is a Fighting-type, so their Fighting attacks will do well against Dark-, Ice-, Normal-, Rock-, and Steel-types. To protect your Kubfu, you’ll want to avoid Fairy-, Flying-, and Psychic-type attacks.
As you work your way through this expansion, you’ll run across new Pokémon, trainers, and other difficult challenges. By keeping this chart handy, you’ll always be at an advantage no matter what this new campaign throws at you.
