Activision Blizzard released the battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone, its latest in the military first-person shooter franchise series, on Tuesday. Fans were quick to check out the action, with the game picking up over 6 million downloads in the first 24 hours. However, some were disgruntled at the fact that it seemed to vary which player receives credit for an enemy kill.

New update for Call of Duty: Warzone
Joe Cecot, the co-design director of multiplayer at Infinity Ward, explained that an upcoming update would grant the kill to the player who downed the enemy. Previously, players were up in arms about it being given to the person who eliminated the knocked player.
This is because the credit usually went to someone who didn’t contribute during the battle and instead stole the kill as a bystander. Others thought it was actually the player who dealt the most damage. There was, unfortunately, no clear indication of who got the kill credit.
@JoeCecot will you consider putting how many players u downed in a match on score board
In the next title update (larger update) the person who downed will get the kill credit. The change just missed release.
This update will help with team dynamics in the battle royale title. While a single-player option is available, many are in the trios game mode instead, where teamwork is almost always necessary to achieve the win. With the previous system, players were incentivized to go on their own paths for personal gain or take advantage of teammates by stealing their kills. However, this usually ended up in a quick loss because of being outnumbered by the enemy team when scattered.
Infinity Ward has not disclosed when this update will release, but it will likely arrive next week. Right now, only the most recent Title Update is shown on the Trello for Call of Duty: Warzone. This patch added the search and rescue mode, mayhem mosh pit, VLK Rogue Shotgun, and several fixes and game setting changes. It also removed fixed issues with weapons, missions, challenges, special operations, and the client.
