Allied Esports, a global esports entertainment company, has plans of debuting a live motion capture technology for its casters at the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Legend Series Broadcast. Allied will lean on Xsens, makers of inertial motion caption products, “to bring live animated casters to a professional esports tournament production for the first time.”
Essentially, Xsens’ MVN motion capture systems, which have been used in films and series such as Black Panther and The Mandalorian, will see its broadcasting talent transformed into animated characters who will match their mouth and body movements. There will be exclusive avatars designed for the events which give viewers an experience specific to the game being played.
Casters Robert Jan Kortooms and Thiadrik Oldersma will be inside the motion capture suits.
The animations created will also be used in creating unique opportunities for brand and product integration.
The CS:GO Legend Series is a three-day, $5.9K USD (€5K), winner-take-all event featuring Apeks, Club Brugge, Nexus and NLG. The tournament will be produced out of Allied Esports’ AE Studios in Hamburg, Germany.
Taking place from April 10-12, fans can watch the live-streamed event on Allied Esports’ North American and European Twitch channels.
Another aspect to the tournament will be Allied’s partnership with GRID, an esports data provider that delivers official data to regulated bookmakers and sports betting platforms. Event live-server data will be distributed to participating sportsbooks, allowing bettors to engage with the event in real time.
The April tournament will be Allied Esports’ seventh iteration of the CS:GO Legend Series.
