We’re just a few days away from potentially seeing Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War for the first time. Activision led the community on a week-long easter egg in Warzone to reveal the new title’s name and reveal date. However, we’re not 100% sure of what the reveal could contain. Some leaks have suggested that a full-on Campaign and Multiplayer trailer are coming on August 26. However, there’s no way to verify that information until the actual reveal date just like there’s no way to confirm the arrival of a beta, which has also been leaked.
Black Ops Cold War beta coming soon?
For the past five years, Call of Duty has thrown a closed and open beta for that year’s newest entry. Starting in 2015 with Black Ops 3, the betas have traditionally been huge successes. The period gives the player-base a trial run with the new title, and it gives the developers a chance to work out any bugs before release.
However, this year’s time-frame has been thrown way off. We’re only just now receiving a reveal, which usually happens in May. So when the topic of a beta was ever brought up, many didn’t know what to expect. That seems to have changed now that new leaks have surfaced.
According to known insiders @_TomHenderson_ and @ModernWarzone, a Black Ops Cold War beta is coming soon.
Starting off, Tom Henderson is claiming that the beta could arrive as soon as August 26, which is when the BOCW reveal is set to take place in Warzone. In the past, late August to early September is usually when the betas go live but with this new time frame, nothing is for sure.
In regards to @ModernWarzone’s tweet, they seem to be clearly hinting at the beta. However, a picture of the Commando assault rifle from Black Ops 1 accompanies the tweet. While unconfirmed, they could have knowledge that this specific weapon could be featured in the Black Ops Cold War beta.
Speaking of weapons from Black Ops 1, minutes after @ModernWarzone tweeted out the Commando, @TheMW2Ghost tweeted out a picture of the Stoner light machine gun.
@MW2Ghost is another insider who leaks information about Call of Duty. We don’t have any background on these tweets, but it’s not a coincidence they were tweeted at the same time.
