How to add friends on Valorant – Daily Esports

Riot Games’ Valorant requires you to strategize with the other members on your team and promotes communication. But things can get tough if you have one or two teammates that aren’t communicating. This is where queuing up with friends can come in handy and help you get that win. Whether you’re looking to add an old bud or a cool stranger you met in-game, here’s how to add friends on Valorant, with or without Riot ID.

Connect via League of Legends

When opening Valorant, you’ll see a friends list on the right side of the screen. If you’ve played Riot Games’ more popular title League of Legends, then your friends’ list will appear in Valorant under the “Other Games” tab. Once they’ve obtained a beta key for themselves, they’ll show up under the “Friends” tab.

Your friend will only appear under the Friends tab if they’re also in Valorant. If they’re on League of Legends or Legends of Runeterra, they’ll show up under the Other Games tab. This is by far the easiest way to add friends between games, but if you haven’t tried League of Legends yet, there are other ways to add friends.

Add via Riot ID

Again, upon opening Valorant, you’ll see the friends tab on the right side of the screen. In the bottom right corner, you’ll see a person icon with a ‘+’ and a magnifying glass. Here is where you can either add a user to your friends list or search up another player in Valorant. After clicking on the person icon, you’ll see where to type in your friend’s Riot ID and tagline.

Your Riot ID is your in-game name, not your username that you use to sign in with. Your tagline is the region you’re playing in or a number assigned to the tag. For example, if you’re playing in North America, your tagline will be #NA1. Another example would be a combination of numbers after the #. When adding the tagline, you want to exclude the “#” and only put their region or number combination. Unsure about what your tagline code is? The best way to tell is to move your mouse over your name. This will show you the tagline associated with your Riot ID.

Still have questions for how to add friends on Valorant?

If you still have questions about your Riot ID and tagline, go to the account page on Riot Games’ website. You can click on the Riot ID tab to see your name and tagline, as well as make any changes to it.

Remember that Valorant is still in closed beta, which means that Riot Games hasn’t ironed out all of the issues related to the game. For other issues, make sure you ask Riot Games Support for help. For more Valorant guides and news, stay tuned to Daily Esports.
