Activision Blizzard Esports has just announced the 2021 World Series of Warzone which features four events with a prize pool of $300K USD each, the largest prize pool to date for any Warzone tournament. Fans will witness a series of four semi-invitational Call of Duty: Warzone competitions that will be separated into trios- and duos-based events for each of the North America and European regions.
The 2021 World Series of Warzone will be played online with the first competition starting with North American-based players for the World Series of Warzone: Trios NA.
As far as that event is concerned, 50 trio squads will compete in a custom lobby, playing six matches while accumulating points based on kills and overall finish. How well the teams do will determine their share of $200K.
An additional $100K will be available in the Captain’s Cup, which is being described as “a fun twist that will be led by some of the biggest names in Call of Duty esports.”
For the Cup, five captains will be selected based on their existing ties to the Call of Duty franchise. Those five will then need to draft a team of trio squads that have been formed prior to the draft. Then, each captain will have pre-selected two players to form their trio squad. And once again, how well the teams finish will determine how much in prizes they will receive. In this case, $20K for the drafting captain and $1K for each player.
While the announcement lists that the Call of Duty World Series of Warzone: Trios NA event is slated for June 23, the details for the three remaining events will be announced later.
