Ghost Of Tsushima is up to 50 hours long, map is ‘packed’

Ghost Of Tsushima will feature Sucker Punch’s largest open world to date, and will be packed with ‘people, items, and stories’.

The latest Ghost Of Tsushima details got fans even more excited for the samurai game’s release, and now Sucker Punch has provided a little extra concerning the game’s length and map.

In an interview with Portuguese website Voxel, creative director Nate Fox stated that its length will depend on the player and that if you try to see everything the game has to offer it could take somewhere between 30 to 50 hours, or even more.

‘So can players take, say, 30, 40, 50 or more hours if they do the optional activities? And, obviously, less than that if you stay on the main route? Is it safe to make these statements? Yes, absolutely.’

He also recommended that players not stick to the main story route and go out of their way to explore.

‘I would highly recommend that everyone get off the main route and get lost on Tsushima Island, there is a lot to discover there.’

In a separate interview with IGN Nordic, he added ‘There are all sorts of hidden stories and items you get access to by following your curiosity. This is why we didn’t add markers on the map.

‘We want you to get lost in Tsushima, that when you are heading to a hill, you suddenly hear a bird you think, maybe I will follow that instead. Just get lost from the one thing to the next, and we want to give you the tools and freedom to do that.’

Ghost Of Tsushima will reportedly feature the biggest map Sucker Punch has ever made, with the portion we saw in the recent State of Play being only a small part of the starting area.

However, Fox explained that Sucker Punch didn’t want the map to feel empty, ‘We want to give enough stuff to keep it electrifying for the player. We didn’t want to make a huge map and have nothing on it. So it’s packed with people, items, and stories to explore.’

Ghost Of Tsushima will release exclusively for PlayStation 4 on 17 July.
