An online Australian retailer has posted listings for a Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit remaster.
Last month, it was rumoured that EA would be releasing a remaster of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit for modern consoles.
It would make sense, as EA has confirmed that a brand-new Need For Speed title is in the works from Criterion, the studio responsible for Hot Pursuit, and having a remaster of a previous game would help drum up interest.
While initially just a rumour, it does appear to be very real as Mighty Ape, an online retailer in Australia and New Zealand, has listed pre-orders for it.
Originally spotted by Nintendo Life, three separate listings have been posted for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. None of them mention any dates and the game isn’t specifically referred to as a remaster, but it’s safe to assume that’s the case.
What’s probably more surprising is that the listings, at the time of writing, are still up and haven’t been taken down. Considering they’ve been up for at least a day, possibly longer, it suggests that the listings are valid.
We found the original Hot Pursuit to be the best arcade racer of the whole generation when it was first released, one that none of its successors managed to top. So we and many others are more than happy to see it be re-released for current systems.
