Resident Evil 8 will have VR support claims latest source

Capcom will be returning to the world of virtual reality with the next Resident Evil claims the latest leak, just like Resident Evil 7.

The two Resident Evil remakes have been great. Well, mostly great when it comes to Resident Evil 3, but because they’re third person they’re missing one of the best things about 2017’s Resident Evil 7: a VR mode.

Because the game was, unusually for a Resident Evil title, first person Capcom were able to get it working on PlayStation VR and it remains one of the best VR experiences on any system – not to mention the scariest.

Confirmation of a VR mode comes from a brief comment from website Gematsu, which reports that ‘Resident Evil 8 will feature PlayStation VR support like its predecessor’.

That implies that the mode will allow you to play the entire game in VR, as was the case in Resident Evil 7, rather than just being a separate mode.

If Resident Evil 8 is out next year it will almost certainly be cross-generational, but either way the PlayStation VR headset will be backwards compatible with PlayStation 5 – even as there are rumours about a PlayStation VR 2.

The same article is also the latest to confirm previous reports that a Resident Evil 4 remake is currently underway, and will likely be released in 2022.

Resident Evil 8 though, is rumoured to be out in spring of next year and assuming it’s not delayed by the coronavirus that should mean that we see an official announcement sometime in the next few months.
