A new patch added to Resident Evil 3 for the Xbox One will fix several performance issues noted during launch and initial reviews of the game. Users who were playing the game at launch on the Xbox One X likely noticed that the game felt less refined and polished in appearance compared to the remake of Resident Evil 2 from last year.
While the Xbox One X did run in native 4K, frame rates did not come close to the 60 FPS players were told to expect. Version 1.0.0.4 on the Xbox One X was rendering resolution at 3840×2160, whereas the updated 1.0.0.5 version drops this down to 2880×1620. This new patch will fix the frame rate issues by reducing the resolution to 1600p, and a quick glance at the gameplay makes it feel closer to what Resident Evil 2 offers its players.
This should be the final performance patch needed for the game following its release. There are still some issues affecting Resistance. However, those don’t pertain to performance, but to glitching. Kotaku recently reported how a player was on the unfortunate receiving end of a glitch that spawned what appear to be one hundred Mr. Xs -something that should see a patch as well soon.
