Xbox Series X release date is early November suggests leaked controller

The recently leaked next gen Xbox controller may have revealed another secret, as it seems to give away the Xbox Series X’s release date.

As if confirming the existence of the Xbox Series S wasn’t enough, the discovery of a next gen Xbox controller may have also revealed the release date of both new consoles.

It was missed at first, but the warranty date for the controller has the very specific date of 5 November 2021, and since it’s a one year warranty that means… the release date must be 5 November 2020.

In theory that makes perfect sense and while 5 November is a little earlier than most would’ve guessed the new consoles are certainly expected to launch sometime that month.

Of course, there’s multiple reasons that date could be wrong, as everything about Microsoft and Sony’s plans this year have been subject change, thanks to the pandemic.

And just as neither company wants to be the first to announce a price, in case the other tries to undercut them, they seem equally nervous of announcing a launch date and will probably change it if one is much earlier than the other.

Microsoft has implied it has a new reveal event planned for this month, which could be when it’ll reveal a date, but at this point it’s best not to assume anything.

Not least because Microsoft has admitted that its initial plan to have a new showcase every month has now officially been ditched.

According to a new blog update it’s abandoned the Xbox 20/20 branding because, ‘it implied that we would be releasing information in one way only, through a dedicated monthly show’.

‘We’ve got so much more to share with news about Xbox Series X, new games like Halo Infinite, and cloud gaming via Xbox Game Pass’, reads the blog.

‘We’re going to share that news in a variety of ways. It may sometimes be a dedicated show, YouTube videos, partnering with others, or sharing the latest via Xbox Wire. We want to stay flexible with how we connect with you.’
