Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg has stated that the Xbox Series X will have 60 frames per second as standard, and can even go up to 120fps.
Microsoft recently held an Xbox 20/20 event, which was set to show off the first gameplay footage for a number of third party Xbox Series X titles.
However, it seemed to have set expectations a bit too high. The general response was one of disappointment, with many expecting bigger name reveals and wondering how much of what they saw was real gameplay.
Microsoft itself even admitted that it may have got people too excited and it looks like that’s not the only thing that has caused fans to express doubt about the new console.
Executive Aaron Greenberg wrote: ‘the bar is high for a game to be Xbox Series X Optimized. Way beyond just 4K… hope you all are ready for an exciting future of console gaming!’
He later added, in response to a fan, that 60 frames per second would be the standard output, but the console can support upwards of 120fps.
It looks like if Microsoft wants people to believe what it’s promising, it needs to either show more in-depth gameplay footage or get the console in peoples’ hands.
The Xbox Series X is scheduled to release in time for Christmas this year.
