Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will stumble onto Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X a little later than expected. Developer Mediatonic announced Friday that Fall Guys on these platforms will be delayed; originally, Mediatonic hoped to release the new platforms this summer. A new release window has not been announced.
“While we want to launch on these platforms as quickly as possible, we believe the Switch and Xbox releases are really going to be worth waiting for and we’re super grateful for your patience,” Mediatonic wrote in a post on the Fall Guys website. “This delay gives our team some time to add features like crossplay, so when we add new platforms, players will be able to stumble in harmony with their pals, regardless of their platform of choice.”
Snuck into that announcement, however, is a little note about cross-play: Fall Guys will launch on new platforms with the feature, allowing people to play together regardless of platform.
Fall Guys was originally released in February 2020, and was initially available only on PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. Mediatonic announced the Nintendo Switch version in February of this year, followed shortly by an announcement for the Xbox versions, too.
In March, Fortnite developer Epic Games bought Tonic Games Group, the company that owns Mediatonic and Fall Guys. Mediatonic said in Friday’s update that the acquisition gives the team access to “a whole host of new tools to enhance the experience of those who are down with the Crown.”
It said the Fall Guys team is continuing to work on seasonal content like “Shows, Costumes, and Rounds.” With the Season 4.5 update, which is coming soon, Fall Guys will get two new rounds and new skins.
